Dear Community Members, Donors, and Sponsors,
A Historic Moment for NECC – Let’s Build Our Shared Legacy Together
We stand at a pivotal moment in NECC’s journey. Since acquiring our beautiful 16.83-acre property in Germantown, Maryland in October 2021, we have been on a meaningful path — to build a community center and a Pagoda-style Nepali Temple, a symbol of our shared heritage, faith, and community pride.
This dream is becoming reality, step by step. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported us through volunteering, donating, and the Promissory Note Program, helping establish a strong foundation for NECC’s future. Now, we invite every member of our community to come together once more — because every donation, large or small, makes a lasting impact.
This year, NECC has reached historic milestones:
- Site plan officially submitted — an important step forward in our development journey
- Public hearing successfully completed, along with Development Review Committee review
- Barn demolition completed; construction of our new community hall begins May 2026
At the same time, we have continued to strengthen and serve our community:
- Welcomed our new priest from Devghat Dham, Nepal, providing exceptional spiritual services.
- Replaced the temple roof and upgraded to an energy-efficient electric heating system.
- Constructed a temporary Shiva Podium providing a sacred space for spiritual activities.
- Established a community vegetable garden and children’s playground
- Converted an existing hut into a priest residence
- Launched a new website with additional features including member’s individual accounts logins.
- Nepali Pathshala of Maryland is providing exceptional services and expanding its capacity
- Hosted a wide range of programs for the benefit of community members, for example;
- Cultural & Spiritual: Shivaratri, Buddha Jayanti, Deusi-Bhailo, Dashain, Chhath, Teej, Holi, Janai Purnima, Ganesh Chaturthi, Krishna Janmastami, participation in program organized by Montgomery County and State of Maryland
- Educational: Youth Internships, Environmental Education Programs, Pathshala Anniversary, and
- Community and Social Welfare: Community Vigils, Kite Festival, Health Clinics, Immigrant Rights Sessions, Mother’s Appreciation, Volleyball tournaments and other sports events.
As soon as our site plan is approved, we will begin constructing a Buddha podium, parking lot, updated traffic system, and water-sewer connection — vital steps toward realizing our temple vision.
Now is the time to unite and shape our shared future. Your support today will help build a lasting home for faith, culture, and community.
With Gratitude,
Nepal Education and Cultural Center Team
