We are grateful to share that the NECC has received $100,000 in funding from the State of Maryland under the FY 2026 Legislative Bond Initiative.

Our sincere thanks to our House sponsors—Delegates Leslie Lopez, Harry Bhandari, and Greg Wims—and Senate sponsor Senator Nancy King for their continued support and belief in our vision.

This funding brings us one step closer to transforming the Historic Howes Farm Barn in Germantown into a vibrant community center that will serve generations to come.

For over 20 years, NECC has worked to support Nepalese and broader AAPI communities through education, cultural programs, health awareness, and advocacy. With this project, we are restoring a historic structure into a modern, inclusive space that addresses real community needs—language access, cultural connection, education, and social and health services.

Project Highlights:
• 3,200 sq. ft. historic barn restoration into a multi-purpose community center
• Phase One construction underway (structural work)
• Future programs include language classes, workforce training, cultural programs, social and health awareness events, and free health clinics

This project is more than a building—it is a commitment to equity, inclusion, and preserving heritage while creating opportunity.

We are deeply thankful for this support and look forward to continuing this journey together with our community and partners.
