NECC Playground Project: Creating a Safe and Joyful Space for Our Children
The Nepal Education and Cultural Center (NECC) is excited to announce the development of a new playground designed to provide a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for our children and youth. This initiative aligns with our commitment to fostering community wellness and enriching the lives of our younger members.
The designated playground location behind the SiloHut ensures that it remains out of sight from historical structures, maintains a clear separation from the main building’s cultural activities, and provides a safe environment for children by minimizing proximity to traffic and main pathways.
The playground will feature a diverse range of equipment to promote active play and physical development for children. Key components include a multi-activity play structure with slides, a fireman’s pole, a ship’s wheel, a figure climber, a transfer station, and a D-ring challenge ladder, covering approximately 30 ft by 18 ft. Complementing this are a 4-bay swing set accommodating both toddlers and older children, a 23.3 ft diameter spinner for interactive movement, and a 14 ft by 14 ft parallel bar set to encourage strength and coordination exercises. All equipment will be installed on safety-compliant surfaces, such as rubber mulch or engineered wood fiber, adhering to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) guidelines and Montgomery County regulations to ensure a secure and accessible play environment .
This playground will serve as a vibrant hub for physical activity, social interaction, and community engagement. It is a step forward in NECC’s mission to create spaces that promote health, happiness, and togetherness among our members.
We look forward to the joy and laughter this new addition will bring to our community.
