NECC Upgrades Main Building with Energy-Efficient Electric Heating System
The Nepal Education and Cultural Center (NECC) has successfully completed the installation of a modern electric heating and cooling system in its main building, replacing the outdated and inefficient oil-based system. This upgrade enhances comfort, reduces maintenance demands, and aligns with NECC’s commitment to sustainability.
🔧 Project Overview
The previous oil heating system was prone to leaks, costly to maintain, and insufficient for the building’s needs. Cooling was managed through window air conditioning units, which were inefficient and labor-intensive. Recognizing the need for a more reliable and eco-friendly solution, NECC invested in eight electric heating and cooling units, totaling $24,000.
🌱 Benefits of the New System
- Energy Efficiency: Electric heating systems are more efficient than traditional oil-based systems, leading to potential reductions in energy consumption and costs.
- Reduced Maintenance: The new system minimizes the need for frequent repairs and maintenance, freeing up valuable volunteer time and resources.
- Environmental Impact: By eliminating the use of oil, NECC reduces its carbon footprint, contributing to a cleaner environment.
- Improved Comfort: The electric units provide consistent heating and cooling, enhancing the comfort of the building for all occupants.
This upgrade is a significant step forward in NECC’s ongoing efforts to maintain its facilities responsibly and sustainably, ensuring a welcoming environment for community members and visitors alike.
