For over 20 years, the Nepal Education and Cultural Center (NECC) has been the vibrant heart of the Nepalese and AAPI communities in Montgomery County and beyond. Now, we invite you to join hands with us as we embark on an exciting new chapter. Together, we can bring this bold vision to life!

In 2021, NECC acquired a historic 16-acre property in Germantown, MD, dating back to the 1890s. At the center of this property is a beautiful, yet time-worn barn, which we are eager to transform into a 3,000 sq. ft. Community Hall—a space that will foster community, connection, and opportunity for generations to come.

Our Vision: A Space Where:

• Language classes bridge communication gaps with healthcare providers, government agencies, and schools.
• Cultural programs celebrate our rich traditions and bring together members of the AAPI and Nepalese communities.
• Vocational training boosts job skills and opens doors to better economic opportunities.
• Mental health and free medical services are provided to uninsured community members by certified doctors and nurses.
• Advocacy and outreach programs empower families to access vital services and resources.

Barn Picture in Relation to Future Podiums and Existing Huts

Barn Renovation – Phase 1

Phase 1 of the renovation will lay the foundation for this vision:

• Upgrade flooring and convert the barn to a single level for ease of use.
• Remove interior walls to create an open and versatile event space.
• Replace walls, roofs, windows, and doors to enhance the barn’s structural integrity and safety.

The Cost and Your Role:

• Total Phase 1 Cost: $350,000
• Grants Secured:
  • $150,000 from the State of Maryland’s Legislative Bond Initiative
  • $126,000 from a Montgomery County Capital Grant
• Funds Needed: We need to raise $74,000 to complete Phase 1.
